Lights...Camera.....20+ minute renders!
Friday is my Lighting and Camera Techniques class.
first assignment is to create a museum exhibit scene and light it up!
I did this today during class.
This is just what i have so far, i have bigger plans for this.
Things i need to do...
-fix models
-adjust lighting
-find time to do my character and object homework lol
enjoy the high res!

wooo hooo! would you call me crazy if i say i love unwrap uvw?
well... i say this because its beginning to sink in.
and im not stressing out about it...(yet)
im sure it will get harder in the near future and im looking forward to it.
that just means im getting better, plain and simple.
Now i just need to work on my photoshop and texture skills :P
here we go!
i understand that it isn't perfectly round, you can see the edges, but the main idea to think about is....i unwrapped and textured this!!! :D

Normal Mapping!!
i got my props completed... 554 polys (1108 tris) not bad... i had a 750 poly limit
now time to make them AWESOME and highly detailed!

Props Assignment---Adv. 3D Modeling
So the first assignment was a toughy!
i never textured my models in my last class with the UVW Unwrap modifier so this was brand new to me!
But with the help of my friend toasty, i was able to get this done!
Get ready for next update soon with normal maps! very high detailed low poly props :D

About Time I Post Something New!!
So here's the dealio!
I've been super...SUPER busy with my other classes. Im sure you dont want me to update my American Literature research paper on my blog haha.
But anyway, ive been doing a lot of animation which requires more time and effort to make them into a video and post on my blog.
....also my WoW addiction is slowly coming back!
...must...not...follow...the...light.....EPICS!!!
anyway... i've been working on my final for 3D Modeling and its coming along great... i still have a lot of work to do.
Water is something new to me in 3Dsmax. Making it just right takes lots of time and tweaking.
But! good news is that i found some mistakes in the terrain which im sure you can tell with this post that can be fixed easily.
I'd like to take the time to thank my friends and family who look,follow and comment my work as i go through school. It means a lot.
Anyway.. here you go!
I plan to add lots of trees, (dead on the left, Living on the right) kinda going for the grass is greener on the other side :)
Animate birds flying...doodads like bushes... grass, rocks and stuff.

Canyon Scene Final
Starting to work on my Final for class.
I plan on adding a rope bridge, river, a horse and a small tent and fire pit.
This isn't due till Mid-June, doesn't hurt to start on it now. :)

Landscape WIP!
Now here is my forte!
Environments! Here is a very basic concept design.
Most likely not what it will turn out to be. It with be more detailed like my desert scene i have posted before. This is just a rough model.
Keep checking back through out the week for updates!

Working with VUE going to get a nice panoramic scene. just gotta wait 5 hours till it renders out lol.
couple low poly simple buildings to add. You can tell im spending more time on world than my objects :).

Well, im disappointed with VUE a bit because i had some problems. BUT its a new program to me and i shall learn it and get better at it. You can see the possibilities i have with it in my last update.
So im just going to stick with MAX with this assignment.
Here is what i have so far. need to add a couple more buildings and tweak lights and render settings and it shall be complete!

So i dropped the texture of the landscape because it draws to much focus from the buildings as well. so i decided to make it a clay render and add some ridge like walls to my scene. now you can tell whats all in my scene :D
Almost done....doing some final touch ups and its looking great so far!

Week 5 Assignment: Chess Set
After about 15 hours of calculated work... I have completed my assignment.

Chess Set WIP
chess set!
Using splines for the first time.
Also using a reference picture.

designed a board to play on for my chess set.
if you notice carefully, i used my lamp prop as well :D

Pretty much done, all i need to do now is work on the queen and king.
Looks a lot better with pieces on the board now all rendered out! (took 10 minutes to render)

StarCraft 2 Beta...eeee!
Got my hands on the StarCraft 2 Beta today, sadly i have to wait 5 hours to download. In the mean time I can browse concept art of this game and find some inspiration from their artwork.
Even if you don't play the game, I recommend checking out their work.

Lunchbox Class Assignment
Here is my class room assignment.
We had to make a lunchbox for a Ogre. and have 3 foods a ogre would eat.
I made a slug sandwich, a cow's tongue and a handful of spiders to snack on.
YUM lol.

I redesigned the box and changed the material and render settings.

Prop Project
In 3D class, we were assigned to make a prop. Pretty much anything you wanted.
So i decided to do a lamp post in a "magical city"
Here what i was going for is 1 giant floating lamp with 2 smaller ones circling around the main lamp.
I cant wait till i get a better understanding of texture mapping so my models wont be giant gray blobs :)

Dragon WIP
Here is my attempt so far for my dragon in 3dsmax. I'm trying to get as much detail as possible so keep checking back!

That first one was just practice.
With this one it more like my reference image i have.
Now he sorta has dragon like features.
I still need to work on the head.
I dont know if im gonna make it that smooth though.

I was making a 3D model of a fire breathing dragon...
But turns out i started to hear sirens and see flashing lights.
I go outside and i see a trailer home across from my house on fire.
From what the officer said, there was no one inside and they were safe.
